Why did the power of the runes not lead the Nazi party to victory in World War II?
The Nazis misused many runic concepts. I can not in this article address all the misuses. So, I will address one, the SS.
There is the real possibility, dare I say probability, that their use of runes was just as a propaganda tool, and there was not a real connection to the runic energies. The SS was a symbol to unite the members in purpose and brotherhood. Some may see this as a morale tool.
The s-rune is a rune of victory. It gave the members the idea of victory. Further there were two s-runes which intensified the supposed power of this symbol.
Just because they know about the power does not mean that they accessed that energy. Did all those troops accesses that energy? I doubt that any took the time to think any more about the SS than a symbol of victory. That is not touching the energy of victory.
There is a difference between knowing what the power of a rune is and bringing that energy into you life or magical world. It takes a special journey to move from knowing that the power exists there and experientially knowing the energy in your life. I do not see the SS troops as having made that trip.
Assuming the foregoing, then the defeat of the SS troops was not proof that there was no energy in the runes.
We will now consider what if they had accessed the energy of victory pointed to by the s-rune.
There are two main runes of victory, the s-rune and the t-rune. The first is victory through force of will. The second is victory in the name of justice.
There came a time in the war that the SS lost its force of will. They where psychologically defeated before they were actually defeated. Once the will is gone the energy of victory evaporates in the s-rune.
They started out with great victories; they lost their will; they were defeated. This could be a possibility with the victory energy of the s-rune.
Also there is the t-rune. This was victory related to justice. You may phrase that as victory because justice demands it.
The deity related to the s-rune is Baldur, the Germanic god of harmony and happiness. The victories of the SS had nothing to do with harmony and happiness. It was a misuse of the s-rune energy.
Therefore the greater victory was the victory of justice, the t-rune. In this case the justice energy dominated over the force of will victory. What the Germans called “triumph of the will” was destined to be defeated by justice.
Rather than the Nazi uses of runes disproving the energies of the rune, they may have indirectly proved the energies as history played out in concert with the energies of the runes.
