G. Oolong Tea and Anti-cancer Properties
It is commonly accepted that regular tea drinkers have statistically a lower risk of developing skin cancer.
Moreover, polyphenols in oolong tea promote apoptosis which in the stomach is related to the death and or inhibiting of cancerous growths. These polyphenol extracts also work as a chemo-preventive instrument and fight against the development of other cancerous growths. As the compounds stifle carcinogenic cells, they thwart the establishment of N-nitroso compounds, and trap genotoxic agents even before they can do their negative work.
H. Oolong Tea and Stress Management
I have written extensively on stress and healing in my book, Hypnosis for Non Hypnosis Healers and Others. For here I will just say the elevation or mitigation of any stress in a person produces amazing benefits to healing and health.
There was a meticulous study done on oolong at the Osaka Institute for Healthcare Science in Japan. When in their experimental mice were caused to ingest oolong, they found a marked improvement, somewhere in the stress level range of 10 to 18 %. The scientists concluded that the natural polyphenols in the oolong tea was the main cause of this stress reduction.
Also, in tea leaves is L-theanine found. This amino acid blocks L-glutamic acid to glutamate receptors in the brain. Since this amino acid binds to excitement reactive neurons, excitation does not occur, and stress decreases because you are more able to keep your mind at rest.
